The Maui Apple Users Society has not only been supporting Mac users in Maui, but we have been active in supporting our community as well.

The Maui Apple Users Society has been involved in programs that accept donated Apple computers and assist in refurbishing and repairing them to place in new homes. User Group members have volunteered countless hours to this program. From 2000-2002, The Maui Apple Users Society ran a program called iKids, assisting a youth non-profit place computers into homes of low-income families. Currently The Maui Apple Users Society has been involved in the Maui County Community Work Day Compu Swap. The Compu Swap is a semi-annual event that allows the community to recycle their computers safely and keep them out of our landfills. The Maui Apple Users Society has been active in repairing many Macs at this event and placing them into school classrooms and homes.

In the past, we have been able to make some great donations:

  • Numerous desktop Macs were donated to Horizons Academy of Maui to update their computer lab
  • An iMac with specialized software for the blind was donated to a bright young man
  • Most events have had at least 30 Macs put into new homes
